day 17.

Once upon a time there was a cat who tasted the night. She licked the soft, rustling dark of midnight and found it delicious. She lapped up the cold black stillness of three a.m. and was still hungry. She nibbled the fuzzy grey stirring of five o'clock until she had eaten every bit of it, and in this way the sun came up. The cat looked speculatively at this new sustenance, but thought to herself, "I'm too full to eat that." She lay down, licked her paws, and, pulling the sunlight over herself for a blanket, went to sleep.

I think this is my favourite of all the things you've written so far. Just, utterly brilliant. It could be a cat-civilisation creation myth.

This is magnificent. Or delicious. What a great way to FINISH my day!
